On your Windows 10 PC running in S mode, open the Settings menu, navigate to the Update & Security section, and select Activation. In the "Switch to Windows 10 Home" section, click the "Go to the Store" option. If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be cautious and avoid clicking the "Go to the Store" link there.

The Microsoft Store will then display a page prompting you to "Switch out of S mode" (or a similar message). Click the "Get" button on this page. Once you see the confirmation message, you'll be able to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store.
